When to use it
Use Live Workspace for supported file inspection and mutable file operations when you need to iterate on a Box after it exists. The first workspace mutation creates a separate workspace copy from the current Release.
Normal hosted URLs can serve active workspace files. Release-scoped URLs always serve their selected immutable Release.
Supported workflow
- Open an existing Box and its Live Workspace controls.
- Inspect files, then use the available save, upload, folder, rename, or delete actions for the paths you own.
- Check the normal hosted URL after a workspace change.
- Deploy a ZIP when you want to create a durable new Release in the history.
Tips and limits
- Never use a workspace change as a replacement for a Release you need to preserve or share as a versioned deployment.
- Historical release URLs remain a reliable way to inspect prior content even after workspace edits.
- Workspace paths reject traversal outside the Box.
Restore from a Release
Restoring a historical Release can make it current and seed the mutable workspace from that Release without changing the historical Release bytes.
